Arab Israeli Agreement 2020

President Trump presided over a ceremony on the Southern Turf, during which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the foreign ministers of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates signed a general statement of principle, named by the White House after the biblical father of three monotheistic religions and individual agreements between Israel and the two Arab states. Later that evening, Senator Bernie Sanders, Biden`s former rival for the Democratic nomination, asked his supporters from 2016 to 2020 to lay their support behind Biden. The contract was signed on September 15, 2020. The treaty recognizes the sovereignty of each state, obliges the two states to exchange ambassadors and conclude bilateral agreements on various subjects, including visa agreements, and will enter into force as soon as ratification. [32] The agreement was ratified by the Israeli government on 12 October and ratified by the Knesset on 15 October. Malaysia stated that the agreement was a sovereign right of the United Arab Emirates, but that it would continue to support Israel`s withdrawal from the Palestinian territories. [128] The Philippine Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in which it welcomed the agreement and hoped it would contribute to peace and security in the Middle East. [129] Hundreds of people gathered on the sun-washed southern grass to witness the signing of agreements in a festive atmosphere not marked by the coronavirus pandemic. Participants did not practice social renunciation and most guests did not wear masks. India welcomed the agreement and said that the two nations were its allies and that it had always supported peace and prosperity in West Asia. Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar had previously said that UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan had called him to discuss the agreement. [125] Recognizing the importance of a supportive legal framework for the movement of people and goods and the promotion of an ongoing business-friendly environment, the parties strive to provide each other with the greatest possible legal cooperation, in accordance with their national legislation, including mutual legal assistance in civil and commercial matters.

„There is no doubt that the idea of normalization with Arab countries is supported by both the left and the right,“ said Dahlia Scheindlin, a Tel Aviv pollster. „The right feels they don`t have to make concessions to the Palestinians to get them, and the left likes peace agreements.“ Yousef Al Otaiba, the UAE`s ambassador to the United States, issued a statement on 13 August in which he hailed the agreement as a „victory for diplomacy and for the region“ and added how it „reduces tensions and creates new energy for positive change“. [7] [47] The Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the agreement and said that the history and people of the Middle East would not forgive and would not forget what the United Arab Emirates was doing and that it was a violation of the 2002 Arab peace initiative. She called the uae`s behavior hypocritical and added that the Palestinians opposed the agreement. [80] President Recep Tayyip Erdogan then said that Turkey was considering suspending or severing diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates in retaliation and recalling its ambassador from Abu Dhabi. [80] In the months leading up to the agreement, Israel had secretly collaborated with the United Arab Emirates to combat the COVID 19 pandemic. European media reported that Mossad was discreetly sourcing health supplies from the Gulf states. [21] [22] Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, announced at the end of June 2020 that the two countries were cooperating in the fight against coronavirus and that the mossad leader, Yossi Cohen, had visited the VaE several times.
